subtilitas:

Kazuo Shinohara - More monolithic structural expressionism in the house in Uehara, 1976. The massive concrete pillars create a forest like atmosphere on the first floor, and on the second begin to branch off to visually separate the main living areas. The six columns are all uniquely shaped; some extend to support a cantilevered car-port, others brace the floor and roof slab, negating the need for beams and joists to maximize ceiling heights.
